Post-Disney Blues

Earlier this week, we crossed the two month mark from my return to the real world after spending 10 glorious days in Disney World for my 40th birthday. (You can read about the trip in this previous post.) As with each visit to the Happiest Place on Earth, the return to normality brings with it a bit of a feeling of blahness after a while. I’m usually able to ride the high of the Disney magic for a good 6-8 weeks, but then the inevitable crash occurs.

Here are my top 4 tips on how to avoid the post-Disney blues, and to keep that magic alive and kicking long after you’ve returned home.

Top 6 Table Service Restaurants at Walt Disney World

I had started to write a long post talking about all of the amazing food that we ate while we were in Disney World at the end of August, but rather than have yet another long-ass post, I’ve opted to do something different for me.

In alphabetical order, here are my top six table service restaurants at Walt Disney World. (click on any image to see it full-sized) Continue reading “Top 6 Table Service Restaurants at Walt Disney World”

In Anticipation…

Sometimes the funnest part of a trip or an activity is the anticipation leading up to it.  Take for instance my upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. Though my wife and I are unquestionably excited for the trip and know that we will be spending 8 days of pure fun and excitement, all of the time and energy we’ve put into prepping this trip for my 40th birthday has been just as much fun. Chris & James’ 40th Birthday Extravaganza

As I’ve written previously, this summer marks my 40th birthday. A few years back, I discovered that I shared birthdays with James Corden, host of The Late, Late Show on CBS. Not only were we both born on August 22, but we were both born on August 22, 1978. Yes, James Corden and Chris Budd are in fact Birthday Twins! (I still maintain that’s a thing…)

Day 7 – Happy Birthday Isabelle! (aka The End)

Although this was our third trip to Disney World for my birthday, this was the first year where our dates worked out so that Isabelle would celebrate hers as well.  Isabelle and I are born 5 days apart (well, 1 year and 5 days). I’m the 22nd of August, she’s the 27th.  As a teacher, and due to her return to work at the end of August, we haven’t been able to arrange the trips to allow her to experience the joys of a Disney World birthday.  This year; however, the calendar worked with us.  She only had to go back to school on the 29th, so we were able to shift the dates a bit to get both of our birthdays in. Day 5 – Animal Kingdom

day-5-breakfast
Pop Tart Breakfast Sandwich

Following our day off, our next stop was Animal Kingdom.  Before leaving for the park, I finally got to try something that I’d heard about.  We were staying at Pop Century, as we always do, and there was a new addition to the menu… The Pop Tart Breakfast Sandwich.  This item had apparently been available in the past when people requested it, but never on their published menu.  But that had changed.  What more could one ask for in a breakfast?  Eggs, bacon and cheese sandwiched between two strawberry Pop Tarts.  While I wouldn’t eat this daily, it did make for a fun experience.  Plus, it gives me a great story to tell people.

Day 4 – A “Day Off” at Disney Springs

One thing we do on every visit to Disney World is to schedule an “off day” mid-visit.  This allows us to rest up a bit and just relax since the other days are what you could call loaded.  We typically leave the hotel around 8AM and often return around/after midnight.  So we need a little downtime to recharge and get ready for the second half.
