London by the Numbers

London. I have been dreaming about visiting London for a very long time. I knew that I would eventually make my way to the UK, but we had never quite prioritized this destination. Even this trip was not a long-planned one. Originally we had planned on a trip to California with my brother and his wife later in the fall, but given the political climate, the wildfires that ravaged LA last year, and the horrendous exchange rate between the US and Canada, we pivoted. Isabelle and I found a good deal on flights to London, so off we went.

When looking back at the trip to London that Isabelle and I took just about a month ago, a lot of different numbers presented themselves to me. I thought this would make for an interesting take on my traditional back-from-vacation post. With that in mind, here’s my London by the Numbers.

Eat Local

While we’re in the midst of this global pandemic, I think it is very important for us to continue to support small, local establishments. At the top of that list, for me, is small independent restaurants.

My wife had flown up earlier in the week on a work-related trip. On Wednesday morning, at the crack of first light, I hopped in the car and started my 7-hour ride to meet up with her.

Fair warning – it’s a slightly longer post.

And Now for Something Completely Different (for us)

It was a new experience for my wife and I over the last two weeks of August. While we always take vacation during this time of the year (both of our birthdays fall at the end of August, some 5 days apart), it was a bit of a departure for us this time. Firstly, my wife, no longer working in the school system, was relegated to only having a few weeks of vacation to use for the year rather than having the summer off. Secondly, we opted to not take any trips this year for our vacation. This meant that we had two weeks of rest, relaxation and quiet.

And boy did I need it.

Top 6 Table Service Restaurants at Walt Disney World

I had started to write a long post talking about all of the amazing food that we ate while we were in Disney World at the end of August, but rather than have yet another long-ass post, I’ve opted to do something different for me.

In alphabetical order, here are my top six table service restaurants at Walt Disney World. (click on any image to see it full-sized) Continue reading “Top 6 Table Service Restaurants at Walt Disney World”
