Listen to the Cubes

The cubes have spoken

My manager gave me these metal cubes last week.  The idea is to role them both and do what they say.  The last time I rolled them, I was given the results above.

I like to think that I’m thankful for what I have in my life.  I recognize how truly blessed I am.  I have a happy, loving family, a good job, a nice home, caring friends, health, etc.  But I am starting to realize that I have more to be thankful for in my life.

  • I need to be thankful for the extra weight I wear around my waist; it is a sign of how well I live and of the abundance of food that I have at my disposal.
  • I need to be thankful for my diabetes; it brought me to an awakening and change of attitude – a new appreciation for life (and, indirectly, a wife!)
  • I need to be thankful for the ridiculous amount of money we’ve spent on windows over the past three years; that we were able to do it without using credit shows how comfortable we are financially (even if it doesn’t always feel that way).
  • I need to be thankful for the fact that we haven’t been able to go on a big trip for the past few years due to having to put in windows; it has allowed me to appreciate the home we have, the beauty of our region, and will make me better appreciate our bigger trips when they happen again.

I want to start taking the time to truly look at the apparently negative things in my life and appreciate them for what they are.  These cubes will become a regular part of my growth.  I look forward to seeing what other revelations they will bring me.
