A Message for You

Hi. This is a message for you. Yes, you.

I’ve come to realize, as I’ve worked on my own self-development over the past years, that I have a few key strengths. One of those is that I’m a good listener. I’m apparently easy to talk to; I’m sympathetic and I easily empathize with whatever is going on.

With everything going on in the world today – hell, for the past 18+ months – people are starting to reach their wit’s end. I think many of us have already crossed that line and have fallen into some destructive tendencies. Maybe we’re retreating too much from the world. Maybe we’re still grieving the loss of our normalcy, and not even realizing that we’re grieving. Maybe we’re deluding ourselves to think that everything is great and we’ve never been better. Maybe we’re just frustrated and tired.

Regardless of what is going on in your world, know that you are not alone. You’re never alone.

I came across this passage while reading earlier this week:

From Matt Haig’s The Comfort Book (p.11)

And that is the purpose of this message to you today. I want you to know that I will be your lighthouse. I’ll be standing here, spreading my Light into the world, illuminating, if even ever so briefly, those shadows in the darkness that surrounds you. If you need someone to talk to, I’ll be here. If you need someone to just listen while you vent and pour out the bile and anguish that’s been eating away at your soul, I’ll be here. If you need to have a sympathetic, non-judgmental ear or just a shoulder to cry on, I’ll be here. If you want to brag and tell me how awesome you are, I’ll be here. No matter the reason, know that I will always be here.

Don’t be too proud. We all need someone to talk to from time to time.
