A TL’s Farewell

Or in my case, it is about many lives influencing one.

As I’d mentioned in my previous post, today marks my last day in my current role with my employer. Over the past five years, I’ve lead a team of talented, engaged professionals. Each one of them has helped shape me and my leadership style.  I learned, grew and developed alongside each of them.  To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, how I acted was never a set out plan; I just tried to do my very best each and every day.  There are days when it worked well, and days when it could have been better.  But through it all, this team accepted me as I was, and for this I am grateful.

To see this team continually rise to the challenge – to not only rise but to overcome the challenges – has been a blessed reward for me.  No matter the ups and downs that came, this team – this family – always pulled together and put their best foot forward.  They cared for one another and truly helped each other grow and, as a result, grew stronger.  I have said this many times over the past years, but it remains the honest to goodness truth – I have the best damned team in the entire company.

It has been an honor and a privilege to have this time together.  Had I not had such an exceptional team, I likely would have been gone long before now.  Although they didn’t always make my life easier, they unquestionably made it richer.

I look forward to the next chapter of my life.  It is time to turn the page and start fresh.  I anxiously await to see to what heights both I and my team will continue to grow and develop.  Fresh blood, new ideas, new challenges – the sky is the limit!  Upon my return from my Caribbean vacation, I will leap headfirst into my new role as a Policy Specialist. Wish me luck!
