My Second Life Day: Divine Synchronicity

Conclusion of my Second Life Day saga.  Catch up to the previous post here, or start from the beginning.

As I take a step back and look at the entire scenario, I can see the Divine Intervention that was happening all around me.  Everything that happened to me over a period of at least six months was done to ensure that my journey here on Earth continued.  The synchronicity that became so prevalent could simply not be ignored.  I had started going to the gym a few months earlier in an attempt to get into better shape.  After my diabetic adventures, one item they stressed was an active lifestyle.  Check.  Another point they stressed, naturally, was food choices.  I needed to eat well-balanced meals.  Tying in with my gym and exercise regimen, I had modified my dietary habits.  I had already started to cut out a lot of the sugar and fatty foods.  So the new diet that I needed to follow wasn’t really much of a change for me.  Check.

Mere days before being rushed to the hospital, I had been offered, and accepted, a permanent, full-time position with my employer. Until that moment, I was without health insurance. Now I had coverage for all of my diabetic supplies and my insulin.  Had I fallen into my near-comatose state just a couple of days prior, I would not have had a job, let alone health coverage.

Yet another example of the synchronicity occurred with my mother.  As I indicated, she was set to drive my uncle home after work that day, some 20-minutes outside of the city, before coming to pick me up for my after-hours clinic visit later that evening.  Due to happy circumstances, my uncle no longer needed a drive, meaning my mother arrived at my apartment earlier than expected.  This meant that she found me on the floor and called 911 earlier, meaning I got to the hospital earlier than I should have.  This time difference played a big part in my survival.  The doctors told my family that had I not arrived when I did, the situation could have had a very different outcome.

All of these bits of happenstance lead to giving me a chance at having my Second Life.  If I had ever doubted in the existence of God, a higher power, Spirit, or whatever you might call it, this series of events left no doubt in my mind – my life had a purpose, and I had not yet fulfilled it.  My guardian angels guided me along and set me up so that I would make it through and survive.

I know that everything that I am today, and everything that I have in my life, is a direct result of the story that I’ve just told you.  I can state with near certainty that I would not be with my wife, Isabelle, were it not for my Second Life Day, but that will be a story for another post later this year.

And there you have it.  This was the odyssey that I lived through 10 years ago.  The events that I’ve outlined in the past six days have lead to this point today.  I am who I am today because of this journey.  I know that my life would not be of the same quality, be it materially, spiritually or emotionally, without having had the opportunity to live through this experience.  While it may not have seemed like a Divine gift in the moment, looking back at the journey that I’ve been on for these 10 years, I can see clearly now (to borrow a phrase) that this was a wake-up call for my soul.

Not a day goes by that I do not think about this adventure.  I am eternally grateful for the intervention of all of the actors in my play – my mother, my brother, my employers, my friends, my coworkers, the medical personnel, my guardian angels.

As a way of marking the celebration of this anniversary, my wife and I have booked a room at the Atlantica Oak Island Resort.  As I sit here, in my ocean-view suite, overlooking Oak Island, I have time to ponder and reminisce.  Regardless of the treasures that may lie at the bottom of Oak Island’s Money Pit, I feel like I am the richest man in the world.
