Charge of the Light Brigade

One thing that has been clear to me for the past few years is that I have a mission in this life.  What that mission is has never been fully clear to me, but I am now beginning to get a better understanding of what it entails.  With my initiation into the world of Reiki a number of years ago, I’ve become enlightened, both literally and figuratively.  I’ve opened my mind to the notions of energy, inter-connectedness, synchronicity and more.  One theme that continues to reassert itself into my life over these past years is light.

I’ve been fascinated by light and it’s interactions with me for most of my life.  I’ve written previously about how I’ve often had lights turn on/off when I come near them.  More recently, light bulbs have burnt out in my house only to randomly start working again 4 or 5 days later.  I’ve never understood what goes on around me, and to be honest, I still don’t really.

In my working life, I’ve often begun to struggle with keeping my interest and passion after a while.  I have reached the same point a number of times where I just can’t do it any longer and feel the urge to run away.  Often, I have.  I’ve left jobs when I was frustrated with the people or tasks, normally leaving these things that were bothering me unresolved.  The new job goes well for a while, but suddenly the same situations start to repeat themselves.  I’m repeating the same patterns because I’m not getting the message.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve struggled with wanting to change jobs.  I felt that I was pouring everything I had into my team, into my job, but not getting anything out of it.  I came very near to jumping ship on a few occasions, but stopped myself after I received some sage advice.

“Maybe you’re exactly where you need to be.  You may be the only source of Light for the people working around you.”

This idea has been bouncing around inside of my skull for the past two years or so.  It’s helped me put my frustrations at work into perspective and allowed me to make progress in my work.  I started going to work with the idea that my job was to spread light and be a beacon for those who were in the darkness.  I like to think that I’ve succeeded in that task.  There are now a number of Reiki practitioners in my company, and I can sense the difference in the workplace.  I’ve helped a few people begin a transformation of their own, and have seen the growth and improvement in their lives as a result.  I’ve accepted that my mission is to accompany others.

As a Reiki practitioner, I see myself as a light worker.  I accept that our bodies are channels for the conscious light that exists in the universe.  I now accept that my mission is to help spread that light to the world.  And so, I’ve had the thought of building a network of like-minded people; a Light Brigade, if you will.  There is only one requirement to be a part of this Light Brigade – you must continue to be the light.  Our world is going through a shift.  Our presence will be direly needed in the coming years to help ensure we continue on the highest path.  All I ask is that, each and every day, anyone reading this message take a moment to send thoughts of love, light, and positivity out into the world.  No matter what is going on in your life, this small act of consciously sending out love and light will have an exponentially larger impact on the world. Whether you direct it to one specific individual, even to yourself, or whether you send it to the entire world, know that you are making a difference.  Small steps lead to big changes.

Be the change. Be the light.

  1. I like to think I’ve always been a part of this light brigade. But what I think I like best about having a network, is that when you feel your light start to dim a bit, you know it won’t go dark.
